Helmet Mounted Display

Exceptional visuals are mandatory for any simulator. The VSS Head Mounted Display (HMD) offers clear visuals in a High Definition resolution with flexible mounting options for a range of real-world helmets for maximum immersion.

Main Features

  • Designed specifically for simulation, the VSS HMD supports peripheral vision to minimise vertigo and motion sickness normally experienced with enclosed systems. It also allows just enough look-under view to operate complex simulated devices such as replica weaponry (e.g. performing immediate action drills) or viewing cockpit displays. Perhaps most importantly, the VSS HMD's peripheral view also allows full movement over large areas without hazard risks of tripping or ramming obstacles, while still allowing a large virtual field of view (over 55 degrees diagonally).
  • The VSS HMD allows the user to have extremely clear visuals to enhance assessing the virtual environment for visual queues, with a 720p native resolution and support for up to 1080p. The HDMI connection is low latency and connects to most COTS computer systems.
  • The HMDs are fully adjustable with eye relief and focus able to be customised to the individual user, and can be rotated up out of the eyeline when needed. The HMDs will fit natively onto Gentex helmet ANVIS NVG mounts and several other helmet types. VSS can also provide custom mounts for new helmets or NVG mounts, or we can provide a low cost generic lightweight training helmet.
  • Although normally used in conjunction with our own simulators, the VSS HMDs are able to support numerous IGs with a COTS visual interface - HDMI. Therefore the HMD is available for sale to anyone to integrate with their own simulation solutions.
  • HMD Offers:

  • High Definition visuals from native 720p to full 1080p support
  • Fully adjustable eye relief and HMD positioning
  • Fits a variety of helmets and mounts
  • Quick adjustment system to suit numerous users
  • Allows peripheral vision to support physical part-tasking procedures
  • Suitable for NVG training
  • Uses OLED Technology for clear and reliable visuals
  • Extended simulator training time due to minimised vertigo and motion sickness symptoms experienced with fully enclosed systems
  • VR Binoculars

Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Intelligence gathering are major components of any military operation and training scenario. VSS has complemented the virtual battlefield with operational replica binoculars such as the Vector 21 Rangefinding Binos and M22 Field Binos commonly used by numerous military organisations around the world.

    Main Features

  • The VSS VR Binoculars use the same OLED technology in our Head Mounted Displays to provide trainees with a crisp, clear virtual image in High Definition.
  • Our VR binoculars offer operational buttons with COTS interfaces (USB) to assign to any simulator function. In the case of replicating the Vector 21, these can be assigned to azimuth and range display functions.
  • Available in a number of forms:

  • 1) As a standalone training system, with integrated hardware, tracking and software. Can be supplied with a widescreen TV for situational awareness or a 4m projection dome for maximum immersion.
  • 2) Combined with our other simulators such as the MK2 SNiper Trainer or the Virtual JTAC Simulator.
  • 3) A pass-through replica device (no integrated software/tracking) with COTS interfaces (HDMI and USB) for any party to integrate with their own simulation solution, using their preferred tracking system and simulation engine.
  • A valuable addition to the VSS fleet of virtual training devices, the VR Binoculars support trainee immersion in to a complex and difficult training environment.
  • VR Binoculars Offers:

  • Replica of Vector21, M22 or any custom binocular type
  • Resolutions from 720p native to 1080p
  • COTS interfaces - HDMI and USB
  • Standalone simulator, use with other VSS simulators, or integrate into third party simulators as a pass-through device
  • JTAC/CAS/FO Virtual Devices

Aside from developing a full JTAC simulator now in use by the Australian Army and the Royal Australian Air Force, VSS has also provided many customers with individual Virtual Devices for their own JTAC/CAS/FO simulators around the world. These consist of both Off the Shelf and Custom devices.
